About Me
Lyssa True Poet
Lyssa True Poet, also known as True Poet PZA, is a multidisciplinary artist working across music, poetry, publishing, and reflective storytelling. Raised by a DJ and rooted in hip hop culture from an early age, her relationship with sound has always been intentional, intimate, and lyric-driven.
Her work lives at the intersection of rhythm, lived experience, and authorship. Balancing grit with restraint, vulnerability with precision, True Poet PZA writes with a voice shaped not by trends, but by survival, observation, and reflection. Adolescence, incarceration, a life-threatening illness in 2015, and multiple surgeries resulting in permanent nerve damage all became part of the emotional architecture behind her creative practice. Storytelling evolved into preservation. Music became documentation.
She debuted in 2016 with R.A.P. (Rhythm And Poetry) Vol. 1, an introspective mixtape grounded in internal dialogue and vivid storytelling. Her 2018 project Truth Serum expanded that foundation through darker textures, sharper delivery, and tightly woven lyricism. In 2019, Patience & Potholes continued that evolution through raw honesty, measured vulnerability, and poetic control.
Today, her work moves fluidly between music, literature, and creative publishing. Reflective without nostalgia and grounded without compromise, True Poet PZA creates from lived truth rather than performance, building a body of work centered on process, authorship, and intentional expression.
